A tribute to the talking drum. Gangan is our first androgynous bag. It is beautifully made with leather and Asooke fabric, mimicking in design the West African talking drum. The talking drum is one of the symbols of the old African tradition, an instrument of music indigenous especially to the Yoruba culture that cuts across western Nigeria onto other parts of West Africa. The talking drum is more than just a cultural artifact or a musical instrument. The talking drum has served a deeper purpose over the years, a purpose such as communication which with the advancement of technology and the improvement in communication principles“ cellphones, internet etc, has slowly dissipated into misty myth and legend. The talking drum as its name implies is made to mimic the human speech. There is no west African music without the talking drum and that means there is no celebration without the Gangan.
